Rite Aid Closing 4 Montgomery County Locations; Here’s What You Need to Know

The Rite Aid at 1441 Old York Road in Abington is closing. New Rite Aid CEO Jeffrey Stein warns that more store closings are likely as the drugstore chain goes through Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

As part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Rite Aid plans on shuttering the doors of 154 of its 2,100 U.S. stores, writes Alex Bitter for Insider.

Stores marked for closure are underperforming locations and are concentrated in California and the Northeast, including Pennsylvania.

On the chopping block here in Montgomery County are stores in Abington, Ardmore, Conshohocken, and Pennsburg.

Rite Aid said all decisions were based on a variety of factors, “including business strategy, lease and rent considerations, local business conditions and viability, and store performance.”

Here are the addresses of the closing stores:

Conshohocken: 200 W. Ridge Avenue, Suite 112

Pennsburg: 350 Main Street

Abington: 1441 Old York Road

Ardmore: 169 West Lancaster Avenue

Rite Aid said that all patients’ prescriptions will be transferred to other pharmacies and the company will try to transfer as many employees as possible to other stores.
