The 2023 general election features a number of local and state races that will have an impact on the Montgomery County area and across the entire state, writes Justin Heinze for Patch.

The race for the three seats on Montgomery County Board of Commissioners will include Democrats Jamila Winder and Neil Makhija and Republicans Tom DiBello and Liz Ferry.

Longtime Democratic Commissioner Ken Lawrence Jr. is retiring, while sitting Republican Commissioner Joe Gale was ousted during the primary in the spring.

The sheriff, clerk of courts, controller, coroner, register of deeds, prothonotary, and recorder of deeds are other county races on the ballot.

On the state level, the focus is on Pennsylvania’s three appellate courts. There are currently two open seats on the Superior Court and one each on the Commonwealth Court and the Supreme Court.

Voters can search for their voter registration status either using their name, PennDOT driver’s license, or identification card. Party affiliation and polling place address are displayed after an exact match of the information available on the voter registration record is entered.
