Besides his family, Blue Bell resident Patrick Brett is very passionate about two things: Philly sports and the importance of organ donation, writes Dave Uram for KYW Newsradio.

Baseball has been in Brett’s blood since he was a young boy, but unfortunately a heart condition sidelined him at an early age. That hasn’t stopped him though from keeping the sport in his life.

He is an assistant coach of the boy’s baseball team at North Penn High School and an avid Phillies fan, along with his wife Lauren. They have been going to Phillies games since they were dating and the Phils haven’t lost one game where they were in attendance.

One of the most recent games they attended was on August 26 for Organ Donor Awareness Night. That night of course the Phillies won against the St. Louis Cardinals 12-1.

Patrick was there that night to support other organ recipients as they shared their stories of how someone’s gift of life gave them a second chance at life.

Patrick received a heart and liver transplant in July of 2021 due to complications from a congenital heart disease called Tetralogy of Fallot.
