Some say the pen is mightier than the sword. In this case, a pencil can be as mighty as a baseball bat. King of Prussia-based Victus Sports dropped a collection of customized bats, designed to look like a No. 2 pencil, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal

This eclectic bat was used by Phillies’ second baseman Bryson Stott during Sunday’s Little League Classic in Williamsport. They’re now available for purchase on Victus Sports’ website. Other custom designs also include the Phillie Phanatic bat.

The supplier has been providing customized bats to baseball stars since 2012. Founded by longtime friends Jared Smith and Ryan Engross, the company’s bats are used by almost 30 percent of Major League Baseball players.

The in-house artist Bruce Tatum, also known as the “Bat King” is the brains behind these funky bats. He works with the marketing team weekly to develop his designs. The pencil bat is part of a Limited Series collection and is selling for $190 to $300.

Marketing Coordinator Doug Trimble says he considers the No. 2 pencil design to be the most unique and popular.
