Molaea-Rene Goodman will compete in Miss Black USA pageant on August 6.

On August 6, Molaea-Rene Goodman, a 2023 graduate of Penn State Abington, will represent Pennsylvania in the Miss Black USA pageant.

Last year, Goodman won the Miss Black Pennsylvania title with a mental health platform, writes Ryan Genova for Glenside Local.

Her platform focused specifically on mitigating the stigma surrounding mental health challenges among Black women.

About her platform, she had said, “This pageant is not just about the glamour. It is about helping me get into the community and spreading positive messages and becoming an inspiration and role model to girls and women who look like me,” she said.

The Lansdale native participated in pageants when she was younger and was encouraged to compete for Miss Black Pennsylvania by a cousin who had won the title in the early 2000s.

The Miss Black USA pageant will include the traditional talent segment and the modeling of a formal gown. You can find more information on the pageant here.
