Plymouth Meeting’s NCCN Commits to Improving Cancer Care in Vietnam
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network, headquartered in Plymouth Meeting, is partnering with Vietnam National Cancer Hospital and the Vietnam Cancer Association to improve the standards of cancer care throughout Vietnam, writes John George for Philadelphia INNO.
Dr. Robert W. Carlson, chief executive officer of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, said the goal of the memorandum of understanding the three organizations signed will be to “develop and validate Vietnamese harmonizations, and subsequent translations,” of National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines.
“We can improve outcomes and quality of life for patients with cancer throughout the country by standardizing practices and addressing language barriers,” he said.
The National Comprehensive Cancer Network has over 80 evidence-based guidelines for treating almost every type of cancer, including recommendations for screening, prevention, and supportive care. There are more than 250 translations of the guidelines available across 69 languages.
