KeystoneCare Home Care and Hospice announces Huma Ansari, MD, as Medical Director of Palliative Care

KeystoneCare Home Care and Hospice (KeystoneCare LLC), a leader in Home Care, Hospice, Palliative Care, Private Duty care, along with Keystone InTouch Telehealth, located in Wyndmoor, PA, announces the appointment of Huma Ansari, MD, as Medical Director of Palliative Care.

Palliative Care, which can be referred to as “supportive care” and “pre-hospice”, has received national attention as a critical component in patient advanced illness management, quality of life and comfort care, and support. To this point, Gail Inderwies, KeystoneCare Home Care and Hospice President and Executive Director, saw the need to bring to the non-profit business, a full-time, Palliative Care medical director who is very experienced and well-educated in the medical subspecialty that is taking over conversations across the nation, addressing the medical, emotional and spiritual needs and management for patient quality of life, as well as in the medical world of hospice and end-of-life care, offering comprehensive support options.

Huma Ansari, MD, is an accomplished, highly-respected and well-educated Palliative Care specialist. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Ansari was Medical Director of Palliative Care at The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute and Clinical Faculty, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, The Ohio State University, Center for Palliative Care. She was Assistant Professor, at The Ohio State University, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Ansari is Diplomate, American Board of Internal Medicine, received Subspecialty Certification, American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and has received continuing education certifications in Palliative Medicine. She is Member, American Academy of  Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM), American Medical Association (AMA) and American College of Physicians (ACP).

By working with patients and KeystoneCare Certified Nurse Practitioners, nurses and staff, Dr. Ansari will assist patients and their families in critical decision making to identify goals and medical directives, treat symptoms, and offer critical medical, physical, emotional and spiritual comfort and support. Dr. Ansari will also focus on working with Chestnut Hill Hospital and Einstein Medical Health Partners’ physicians, staff and existing Palliative Care programs, helping to educate and create more community awareness, and develop platforms and networks for improved Palliative Care treatments, education, program funding, and more.
