Former Coastal Carolina righty Mady Volpe, a graduate of North Penn High School in Lansdale, will continue her softball career at Penn State, writes Andrew Buckman for The Daily Collegian.

Volpe announced via Instagram earlier this week that she would be committing to the blue and white.

After graduating high school, Volpe spent two seasons with the Chanticleers. In those two seasons, she boasted a 12-6 record and a 3.56 ERA. She truly broke out in her sophomore season, when she racked up a 9-1 record and a 2.66 ERA as well as 92 strikeouts.

During her high school years, Volpe was a three-time conference and one-time state champion. When she finished her senior year, she was named Pennsylvania Gatorade Softball Player of the Year.

With the Nittany Lions’ loss of former All-American Bailey Parshall, the addition of Volpe represents great news for coach Clarisa Crowell and Penn State.
