A group of young scientists from the North Penn High School Engineering Academy in Lansdale have launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $30,000 for a trip to an International Science Conference in London, writes Bill Rohrer for Fox29.

The students, who are studying Nanotechnology and building energy harvesting roof shingles, caught the attention of the London school organizing the conference.

The eight young scientists are the only students from the United States to ever be invited and they are hoping that their gofundme initiative will be successful. Already they have raised around $8,000.

“It is a unique opportunity for the students to experience true engineering,” said North Penn Engineering Academy teacher Mike Boyer.
