Ardmore Teaching Pro Loves Spreading the Game of Golf to Next Generation

By

Joanna Coe, the director of instruction at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore and avid golfer, loves to compete, but her biggest passion is to inspire the next generation of golfers, writes Jamie Apody.

She is not on the LPGA Tour instead preferring to teach the game of golf at Merion.

Still Coe was excited to compete in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship this weekend.

“It’s such a thrill. These are women I’ve played against but also have looked up to. So to walk the same fairways, play practice rounds, hit balls next to them, they’re inspiring,” Coe said.

“So it’s special. I love testing myself even though sometimes it’s really difficult, but it makes you stronger at the end.”

This is the sixth major championship for the Mays Landing, New Jersey native.

“I just soak it up because I never know when it will be my last major, so I just soak it up and have fun here in my home state.”
