Merion Golf Club receives ‘platinum’ status

With its new platinum status, Merion Golf Club in Haverford Township ranks among the most exclusive golf and country clubs worldwide, writes Jim Dobson for Forbes.

The 2018-2019 Platinum Clubs of the World represent the highest standard of excellence among private golf and country clubs around the globe.

Platinum status, the ultimate achievement in the private club industry, is awarded in five categories, including Country Clubs, Golf Clubs, City Clubs, Athletic Clubs, and Yacht Clubs.

The requirements for the designation are strict and include Universal Recognition, Excellence in Amenities and Facilities, Caliber of Staff, Professional Service Levels, and Overall Experience.

Initiation fees at Merion begin at $70,000, while yearly dues start at $6,000 and only go up from there.

The only way to apply for membership is through a member referral.
