The 170-year-old Harsco recently moved its headquarters from Harrisburg to Philadelphia and changed its name to Enviri, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

CEO Nick Grasberger decided on the move when he kept running into trouble enticing candidates for the CFO job to move to Harrisburg. When he learned that his leading candidate for the job moved from San Diego to Philadelphia for another position, he knew what he wanted to do.

“That was probably the moment where I said, ‘OK, we just have to do this,'” said Grasberger. “It’s never going to be easy in the short term. We’re going to lose people, it’s going to be expensive. I’m going to have to commute an hour and 45 minutes each way. But in the medium to long term, it’s clearly the right thing to do for the company, without question.”

Another big change besides the move is a rebrand. The company’s focus on the environment inspired the name change to Enviri.

Enviri already has 300 employees in several facilities across the Philadelphia region, including in King of Prussia and Hatfield.
