Four Blue Bell siblings that comprise the Hanson quadruplets made history at the recent commencement at the University of Alabama. As Danielle Ellis reported for CBS News Philadelphia, they graduated as the Crimson Tide’s first set of birthday-sharing siblings since its 1820 founding.

The new UA alumni from Montgomery County are:

  • Anna Grace Hansen
  • Chloe Hansen
  • Michaela Hansen
  • Max Hansen

The Hansen quartet never intended to go to enroll in the same educational institution en masse; it just worked out that way when, as high-school seniors, they toured the campus and fell in love with it.

Each was drawn to Tuscaloosa by a separate academic track. They therefore earned degrees in specialties that ranged from marketing to education.

Because those disciplines was nested under different subdivisions at the school, the Hanson clan sat through four different commencement ceremonies.

On that point, Max observed, “It [was at least] easier that we’re all the same campus … .”

During her collegiate journey, Chloe found it easier to break the news about her family structure gradually.

“[I would] start and say ‘I’m a twin.’ … “Well, actually, I’m a quadruplet.’

“And [friends were] like, ‘Wait, you’re both?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah.’

“They can’t believe it.”

All four are returning home to launch careers.

More on the Hansen quadruplets is at CBS News Philadelphia.

Quadruplets are a handful, but how about that effort times two?
