Representatives from Horsham-based Bimbo Bakeries USA are in talks regarding a sponsorship deal with long-time sports partner the Philadelphia Union. They will be reviewing the deal for the third time, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Since 2011, the major league soccer team has been rocking the Bimbo’s Bakeries logo on their jerseys (referred to as kits).

The deal has since been renewed twice, the latest running through 2028. The latest renewal will introduce a second brand logo to the team. Thomas, a brand owned by Bimbo Bakeries, will be on the team’s “away” kit.

The agreement also relaunches Philadelphia Union’s U-Serve, which is a rewards program for fans who volunteer with the team’s community partners.

“Bimbo has become synonymous with the Philadelphia Union,” said soccer team President Tim McDermott. “What keeps the partnership fresh is the shared values of community service and innovation. We look forward to many more years of creating memories together on and off the field.”

In 2020 Philadelphia Union was the first in Major League Soccer to don two brands, Bimbo and Artesano Bread, on its apparel.

The Philadelphia Phillies are also in talks with companies about securing a deal to flaunt logos on their team uniforms.
