The endless parade of pumpkin-flavored everything is now evident on store shelves across the U.S. And a Montgomery County commercial bakery isn’t intending to be late to the game. Bimbo Bakeries USA, Horsham, has again released its fall lunchbox staple, Little Bites Pumpkin Muffins.

The boxes of prepackaged pouches (with four muffins apiece) seek consumer traction in a crowed field of current options with an autumnal flavor profile: organic popcorn, almond milk nondairy coffee creamer, hummus, Pringles, KFC chicken (in something called a crunchy pumpkin and feta chicken twister), Peeps — and even non-consumables like soap on a rope, toothpaste, and office equipment.

The marketing behind the Little Bites is directed at back-to-school shoppers, touting their convenience, portability, and natural ingredients (no high-fructose corn syrup).

“We love this time of year because it means our fan-favorite Little Bites Pumpkin Muffins make a comeback for families to enjoy,” said Moira Flood, Senior Brand Manager for Little Bites Snacks. “For more than 20 years, we’ve been providing delicious flavor options that will help families create little moments that feel really big during snack time.”

The fall-flavored muffins — branded as Entenmann’s but made by Bimbo Bakeries — will cease being marketed by the end of October.

At which time, seasonal food trends will have likely moved into eggnog-and-peppermint territory.

For consumers who find these tiny treats a must-have in the Sept.–Oct. timeframe, the Little Bites website features a store locator to aid in finding the snacks.
