Locals looking to surprise a chocolate lover with a perfect Valentine’s Day gift (or satisfy their own cravings), can find excellence right here in Montgomery County, with its array of primo chocolate shops. Maddy Sweitzer-Lammé and Alexandra Jones bit into their Philadelphia Magazine assignment to find them.

Three local chocolate makers made the list of the greatest regional candy crafters.

In Ardmore, Delice et Chocolat benefits from brothers Joseph and Antonie Amrani’s French culinary training.

This cozy shop has something to offer for everybody and is located just steps from Ardmore’s SEPTA stop.

Meanwhile, pastry chef Marqessa Gesualdi, who took over Aux Petits Delices in Wayne from longtime owners Patrick and Nina Gauthron four years ago, is serving the same quality French-style sweets at the popular bakery.

These include tasty handmade chocolates with unique flavors such as Earl Grey, passion fruit, pear, and chai.

Sweet Stuff, also in Ardmore, offers house-made chocolates and candies, along with a variety of other treats such as caramel popcorn, cookies, and chocolate-covered pretzels.

In addition, it offers a wide selection of Bassets Ice Cream that can be enjoyed on the shop’s spacious patio, a Valentine’s Day outing workable in today’s mild temperatures.
