Two Montgomery County Firms Made Forbes’ Best Large Employers List, One at No. 1
Two companies with significant Montgomery County presence found their place among the top 100 on Forbes’ 2022 list of America’s Best Large Employees, wrote Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Forbes crowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, King of Prussia, as the top large employer in the nation. CHOP made a huge leap compared with 2021, when it ranked at No. 40.
Forbes ranked CHOP at the top in part due to “the organization’s handling of the coronavirus crisis, as well as its reputation.”
Among the initiatives implemented by CEO Madeline Bell to combat the strain placed on healthcare workers during the pandemic was flexible scheduling and subsidized childcare for employees, as well as Bell’s going to the frontlines amid staffing shortages.
Forbes previously recognized CHOP as one of Best Employers for Women and Best Employers for Diversity.
Merck, with sizable operations in West Point, also cracked the top 50 at No. 45. The company has around 74,000 employees, 4,000 of which are in Montgomery County.
They join the list for 2022 by two other Philadelphia-area companies: Penn Medicine at No. 43 and Malvern-based Vanguard landed at No. 75.
