Aqua Pennsylvania announced that it has invested $2.95 million in main replacement projects in Upper Dublin and New Hanover townships. This investment is part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program to improve service and reliability for customers in Montgomery County.
In Upper Dublin Township, crews recently began replacing 6,557 feet of aging 8-inch cast iron pipe with new 8-inch ductile iron water mains, which are more durable and are comprised of about 90 percent recycled metal materials.
The work is taking place on the following streets:
- Audubon Drive between Oriole and Martin lanes, including Thrush Drive
- Skylark Lane and part of Cardinal Drive between Thrush Drive and Skylark Lane
- Applewood Drive between Dreshertown Road and Leah Drive
Aqua’s work is expected to be completed in March. Final road restoration is expected to be completed in spring 2023, weather permitting.
Crews in New Hanover Township recently began installing 3,700 feet of 16-inch ductile iron water main on the following streets:
- Fagleyville Road from a point 100 feet north of Swamp Pike and Swamp Pike
- Swamp Pike between Fagleyville Road and #2615 Swamp Pike
Aqua’s work is expected to be completed in March. Final road restoration is expected to be completed in spring 2023, weather permitting.
The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks, discolored water and will improve water flow in the area. This project is part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program that replaced 17 miles of aging main in Montgomery County in 2022.
