Colmar Driver Okay after Car Accident in Most Unlikely Place: Inside a Car Wash

By

A 77-year-old Colmar driver was injured and required rescue from inside a neighborhood car wash. Sharifa Jackson at 6abc reported the story.

The accident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 4 at the Wave Car Wash on Bethlehem Pike.

Rescuers theorize the driver’s foot may have slipped onto the accelerator pedal.

The car had leapt forward into the corridor of soap sprayers, water jets, and spinning brushes.

As a result, the vehicle ended up on its side, entangled in the machinery.

Rescuers spent about 90 minutes trying to extract the customer, who suffered only a leg injury.

“I can’t even imagine the process of having a car turn over inside a car wash,” said a patron in line at the time. “I don’t think it’s ever happened before.”

An employee said that the extensive damage would close the business until repairs are made.

“It’s so unbelievable,” said customer Lisette Benitez of Hatfield.

More on this mishap is at 6abc.
