After spending her nearly three-decades-long healthcare career with North Carolina’s Duke University Health System, Katie Galbraith is getting ready to take over as the new president of Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood. Ron Southwick’s coverage of the career shift is prescribed reading in Chief Healthcare Executive for local healthcare industry followers.

Galbraith’s decision to pursue this new position was, however, not one she took lightly.

“I always knew that it would take a really special place to draw me away from Duke,” said Galbraith. The more she learned about Lankenau Medical Center, “…the more I realized what a special place it is.”

Galbraith, who is currently serving as president of Duke Regional Hospital, will start her new position at Lankenau Medical Center, a part of Main Line Health, in September. She will succeed the departing president Phillip D. Robinson, who is retiring after leading the hospital for 12 years.

Galbraith was drawn to her new workplace by its commitment to excellence, equity, and affordability.

“I really wanted to be able to have that deep sense of commitment to community, commitment to equity, commitment to people, because healthcare at its core is people caring for people,” she said.
