James Lledo, who wrestled at Lower Merion High School before joining the University of Pittsburgh, will be making his amateur mixed martial arts debut this summer with 247 Fighting Championships, according to a staff report from My MMA News.

Lledo will fight Derrick Brown II on July 9. The “Brawl in the Burgh 12” fight will take place at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows in Washington. This will also be a debut fight for Brown in this discipline.

“We’re insanely excited for this matchup between James Lledo and Derrick Brown at Brawl in the Burgh 12,” said Hunter Homistek, 247 FC general manager.

Lledo started wrestling at Bala Cynwyd Middle School. At Lower Merion, he posted a 130-27 record with 76 pins. As a senior, he triumphed in 38 out of 42 matches, with 28 of those wins ending in pins. He is currently a standout collegiate wrestler at the University of Pittsburgh.

“James currently competes on Pitt’s wrestling team, so he’s obviously both a high-level athlete and a local draw for the hometown crowd to support,” said Homistek.
