Despite the continuously dropping number of bookstores in the region, there are many of those that are still fighting the good fight as they continue to offer a great selection of books while being a vital pillar in the community, writes Patrick Rapa for the Philadelphia Magazine.

Three of them are right here in Montgomery County.

Narberth Bookshop is a community-oriented bookstore that has a rich selection of both new and used books. It bills itself as “a lovingly curated, forward-thinking haven for voracious readers.”

The store is located at 221 Haverford Avenue in Narberth.

Meanwhile, The Story is a coffee shop that offers a curated selection that is filled with both new and used books for sale.

“The nonfiction selection focuses on faith, history, philosophy, culture, and biography,” notes the shop. “The fiction section features classics, poetry, and stories of hope.”

This cozy gem can be found at 45 East Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore.

Also check out King of Prussia’s newest bookstore, Bookish, in the King of Prussia Mall. Bookish carries a broad inventory of books, many signed by authors, along with exclusive editions not available in other stores.
