HipCityVeg, a plant-based casual eatery recently struck a deal to put a new location inside the Fresh Grocer supermarket in Wyncote. The planned opening of the new eatery is planned for late February or early March, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The new opening in Wyncote will be the 10th location for HipCityVeg. The franchise first opened on 18th Street near Rittenhouse Square in 2012 serving a menu of vegan burgers, fries, nuggets, and shakes.

HipCityVeg has five different locations in the Philadelphia area, along with another two in Washington, and two in New York City. The franchise is planning for additional locations in 2022.

The deal struck between HipCityVeg founder and CEO Nichole Marquis and Fresh Grocer Jeff Brown is positioned as a way to help the eatery build its online ordering, which has quadrupled during the pandemic, making up nearly 60% of total orders.

The new Wyncote store, positioned on the border between the city and Montgomery County, will offer pickup and takeout from a customer counter. It will also provide delivery through apps to areas such as Cheltenham, Elkins Park, and Melrose Park in addition to Cedarbrook, Mount Airy, Germantown, and Olney.

“This location is especially meaningful to me because I grew up in Elkins Park and later moved to Olney,” Marquis said.
