Eagles radio announcer Merrill Reese, who lives in Blue Bell, has signed a new contract to continue announcing for WIP-FM for three more years, writes Rob Tornoe for The Philadelphia Inquirer

At age 79, Reese has been calling games for more than 45 years since his career started in 1977.

“I will never willingly retire — they will have to remove me with a crane because this is what I love doing more than anything else in the world,” said Reese.

WIP-FM owner Audacy, who has streamed the football games since 1992, extended the broadcasting rights for the Eagles until the end of the 2024 season. However, the terms of the contract are unknown, and it is unclear whether Reese’s longtime announcing partner, Mike Quick, also signed a contract.

Reese and Quick have been in the booth together for 23 seasons.

As the longest-tenured announcer in the NFL, Reese has received many opportunities to broadcast for other teams, but he said he would never leave the Eagles.
