SEPTA Commits to Constructing Three-tier Parking Garage for Conshohocken Train Station
SEPTA has given green light to Phase II improvement plans at the Conshohocken Train Station, which call for the construction of a three-tier parking garage in addition to surface parking, writes Kevin Tierney for More Than the Curve.
Phase I is to build a new train station above Oak Street, just upriver from its current location. Phase II will create 534 parking spaces for the train station.
The garage will include ADA-accessible parking along with two ground-level elevators, and later, in-place infrastructure for EV charging spaces.
Currently, there is no set timeline for when construction is expected to start and be completed.
The garage will be constructed to allow for future expansions of up to two more levels and will also have infrastructure supporting the potential future installation of electric vehicle charging spaces.
It’s also interesting to note that the second-tier parking level will have electrical and mechanical equipment installed at that level for protection from 100-year flood levels.
