Trail’s End Café at SEPTA’s Regional Rail station in Bala Cynwyd is attempting to take advantage of the enormous popularity of “Pokemon Go” to generate business during the current service disruptions, writes Kenneth Hilario for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The café’s business has been significantly affected while shuttles replace SEPTA’s regional trains, which are undergoing inspection and repairs.

To compensate, the café is utilizing the game’s popularity to bring customers back through its doors.

Nintendo’s augmented reality game puts Pokemon into real-life scenarios, using landmarks as Pokestops. As luck would have it, there are four Pokestops around the café.

To cash in on this, the café has started a promotion for “Pokemon Go” players, offering free flavor shots or regular sprinkles on its ice cream.

According to Katz, while nobody has taken advantage of the promotion yet, new people have come in because of the four Pokestops.

“It’s getting people in the door,” she said.
