Jenkintown Community Loves This Restaurant Offering Homemade Indian Cuisine

A delightfully vibrant Indian restaurant in Jenkintown, Lilly’s, is serving up delicious dishes that bring the small suburban community a taste of homemade Indian-style cooking, reports Vittoria Woodill for CBS Philly.

“There are plenty of great Indian restaurants in and around Philly, but I think our food has a different taste to it that people have to come out and try,” said owner Jiji Thomas.

Thomas named the restaurant Lilly’s after his mother, as the two had always planned to open a restaurant together before she passed away. When he came to Jenkintown, he didn’t realize how high the demand for his mother’s home-cooked Indian cuisine would be.

“The level of response I got down here was awesome,” said Thomas.

Ever since he opened the restaurant it has always been his mother’s hand guiding him, and now he says he “gets to hear her name every day.”

Among the customers’ top favorite dishes at Lilly’s are the tikka masala, the lamb curry, and parotta.

“Head to Lilly’s in Jenkintown, it’s fantastic,” said Woodill. “Jiji just fills the room with such warmth and you can feel that with the cuisine as well.”
