Wall Street Journal: Pandemic Prompted La Salle College High School IT Director to Reconsider His Career

When the pandemic started, Braden Bonner was still working as an IT Director at La Salle College High School, writes Lauren Weber for The Wall Street Journal.

The 31-year-old Erdenheim resident started interning at the Catholic boy’s school while he was a senior there, and continued working while he studied in college.

After graduation, he returned to his alma mater full-time and became the director of technology and information systems in 2014.

Then the pandemic started and everybody was on lockdown, which gave Bonner plenty of time to reflect.

“It really prompted me to ask, ‘What am I doing?’ ” he said.

His decision to make the change solidified when the staff was invited to return to the office. He realized he preferred remote work and the security it provided.

Since he already knew people from Cisco, he decided to give it a try and apply.

His bravery paid off – he was successful in nabbing a new job that came with a nice pay raise and remote work benefit – as well as a King of Prussia regional office that is available for meetings.
