Marvin O’Connor, a former St. Joseph University basketball star, has opened a sandwich shop in Philadelphia where he pays tribute to local hoops, writes Mike Jensen for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Point Breeze, the cheesesteak and hoagie stand, features a mural by the pickup window that depicts some of the greats from the region. The mural was the idea of the shop’s co-owner, Tim Foy.

He “thought it would be cool to recognize some of the guys from this area,” said O’Connor. “A pretty good idea.”

The mural with nine faces familiar to sports fans has proven to be popular enough with customers that another one is already in the works.

Another mural currently up contains insignias of the Big 5 schools. The former Big 5 player of the year also themes some of the menu offerings in the same vein, offering chicken fingers in Big 5 combos and assigning a smoothie flavor to each of the schools.

However, the biggest menu nod to hoops is to deceased local hero, Rasual Butler. The Rasual Butler Combo offers a Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak with a side of waffle fries.
