2021 Montco Millennial Superstar: Manzil Panchal
Manzil Panchal came to the United States from India at age 21 to further this education with $1000 in his pockets and passion to achieve his dreams.
“I barely spoke any English initially and it was hard to find a job. To keep up with my expenses, I took a job as a cleaner in a restaurant,” he explains. “To someone with a Bachelor’s degree and who is pursuing a Master’s, it was not easy to swab floors and wash dishes. However, the job taught me a very important lesson. Every experience in life teaches you a new skill set. Today, even as pharmacy owner I clean my floors and wipe shelves as it keeps me connected to my roots and reminds me where I came from.”
Manzil Panchal earned his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree with Honors in India, then completed a Master of Science in Industrial Pharmacy from Long Island University in New York.
Manzil truly believes in mentorship; his mentor is also an independent pharmacy owner. “He taught me the importance of community pharmacy and how a pharmacist can influence his patient’s health,” he asserts. “He certainly inspired me to walk on the path of owning my pharmacy.”
Manzil Panchal is now the Owner of East Norriton Pharmacy.
He is most proud of administering the COVID-19 vaccine to over 20,000 Montco residents this year. “My pharmacy was one of the first vaccine administrators in Montgomery County in January 2021, but due to space restrictions, I was only able to administer a handful every day,” he shares.
“That’s when I joined hands with first responders and the township administration to conduct massive vaccine clinics on weekends. Many organizations have recognized me as a “Community Pharmacist Hero,” however, it would have not been possible without the support of all the volunteers. Together we have created an outstanding example of what we can achieve for Montco.”
“When I started the Pharmacy in 2018, it was only my wife and me. Today, I serve over 2000 patients, and many have become part of my pharmacy family,” he notes.
When Manzil moved to Montgomery County, he was looking for a place where he could experience city and suburb lifestyles. “In Montco, you can feel the suburb and metro environment within minutes. I am impressed with the diversity and inclusive environment within Montco,” he says. “Our Holiday, Diwali, is an official holiday. As a family of color, I feel very welcomed and included in Montco.”
