Einstein Healthcare Network, which operates Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in East Norriton, Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park, and MossRehab in Elkins Park, has recently opened the Jewish Health Resource Center, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The goal is to provide compassionate healthcare and resources to the Jewish community that honor its traditions.

The resource center will mainly be for Jewish genetic disease prevention, staff training, community outreach, and health care symposiums, among other medical and academic areas.

Health care providers taking part in the initiative come from many fields, including obstetrics/gynecology, cardiology, and psychiatry.

“The resource center aligns with Einstein’s mission and allows our organization to meet the cultural, spiritual, and religious needs of the Jewish community,” said David Jaspan, the health system’s chairman of obstetrics and gynecology. “Einstein Healthcare Network began as the Jewish Hospital in 1866, so this initiative is a wonderful way to affirm our heritage and continue the traditions of the Jewish community.”

Programs at the new resource center include a Prevention of Jewish Genetic Diseases program, the Pikuach Nefesh and Kovod community education effort, and a nutritional support program, among others.
