Pottstown Eatery Makes Final Round of Cheesesteak Madness Tournament, But Barely Falls Short of Taking the Crown

By

Tony Joe’s House of Great Eats in Pottstown made the final round of the Cheesesteak Madness Tournament and barely fell short of taking the crown, writes Amanda Brady for 6abc.

Jim Pappas, who has eaten more than 800 tasty steak sandwiches over the years, set out on a journey to find the ultimate cheesesteak in the Philadelphia region.

Once he had narrowed it down to the best 16, he then enlisted the help of three other cheesesteak experts to help him select the winner.

Together with Pappas, Mark Twersky, Amigo Dan Matassino, and Diane Farina managed to eat their way through the 16 short-listers until they had narrowed it down to the final two: Tony Joe’s House of Great Eats and Phil & Jim’s Steaks & Hoagies from Brookhaven in neighboring Delaware County.

Choosing the ultimate winner between the two delicious finalists was not an easy decision, but the panel – erroneously we believe – went with Phil & Jim’s classic cheesesteak in the end.
