With Help of DNA Testing, Ardmore Woman Meets Her Identical Twin

By

It was an emotional celebration when Emily Bushnell, who lives in Ardmore, met her identical twin sister, Molly Sinert, who lives in Florida, on their 36th birthday, writes Alicia Vitarelli for 6abc.

Bushnell was adopted from South Korea by a Jewish family and grew up on the Main Line. She did not know that she had a twin as they were separated at birth. Her sister was also adopted by a Jewish couple and grew up in the Sunshine State.

The pair found each other using a genetic testing kit and decided to meet up on their birthday.

Despite growing up thousands of miles apart, their lives mirrored each other in many aspects. Both grew up with cats, and both chose the same look for their prom night, among many other similarities.

When DNA testing linked them for the first time, something significant changed in both women’s lives.

“A hole was immediately filled in my heart,” said Bushnell. “Although I have family who loves me and adores me and have been absolutely wonderful, there was always a feeling of disconnection. Finding out that I had an identical twin sister just made everything so clear.”
