April 13th COVID-19 Update: Montgomery County Numbers Rising, Over 600 New Positive Cases Reported

Pennsylvania Ranks 5th Among All 50 States For Total Doses Administered Yet Montgomery County Reports Hundreds of New Positive Cases

Montgomery County reported 620 new positive cases of COVID-19 as of Monday, April 12th, 2021, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 53,759 countywide since March 7, 2020, which is almost double the new cases since the last report.

There are currently 207 people hospitalized in Montgomery County hospitals due to severe COVID-19 symptoms. Of those COVID-19 patients, 9 are on ventilators.

There are 2 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Montgomery County since the last  report. The current total deaths are numbered at 1,270 in Montgomery County, since March 7, 2020.

As of yesterday, April 12, all Pennsylvanians in Phase 1A or 1B or 1C will be able to secure vaccine appointments.

In Montgomery County, 1,832,366 people have been partially vaccinated, and 2,401,825 have been fully vaccinated.

In Pennsylvania, approximately 6,411,940 total vaccines have been administered.

Pennsylvania COVID-19 Update:
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 6,450 new positive cases of COVID-19 on April 12th, 2021, bringing the statewide total to 1,075,424 cases.

There are 2,460 people currently hospitalized due to severe COVID-19 symptoms (an increase from last report), with 516 of those people in intensive care, an increase from last report.

There were 79 new COVID-19 deaths reported across the State (an increase from last report), bringing the State’s total death registry to 25,406.

Pennsylvania COVID-19 Vaccine Stats:

  • According to the PA Department of Health, as of April 12th, Pennsylvania has administered first doses of vaccine to 38.9% of its eligible population.
  • According to the CDC, as of Monday morning, April 12, Pennsylvania ranks 5th among all 50 states for total doses administered.
  • Vaccine providers have administered 6,411,940 total vaccine doses as of Monday, April 12.
  • 2,401,825 people are fully vaccinated; with a seven-day moving average of more than 87,000 people per day receiving vaccinations.
  • 1,832,366 people are partially vaccinated, meaning they have received one dose of a two-dose vaccine.
  • 4,234,191 people have received at least their first dose.

Stay well:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
  • Clean surfaces frequently.
  • Stay home to avoid spreading new positive cases of COVID-19, especially if you are unwell.
  • If you must go out, you are required to wear a mask when in a business or where it is difficult to maintain proper social distancing.

COVID-19 Testing in Montgomery County
Montgomery County’s testing sites are by appointment only. Register online or call 610-970-2937, and are self-administered.

Additional Information
Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

COVID-19 contact tracing efforts are ongoing and are critical to slowing the spread of the disease. The County has partnered with ACLAMO, Family Services of Montgomery County, Montgomery County OIC, and Visiting Nurses Association Community Services to help with contact tracing efforts.

Individuals who have been tested or identified as a direct contact of an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 and has received a call from any of our community partners may return the call to 610.278.5923 to find out their results or status. All information discussed on the call is strictly confidential and is only used to trace COVID-19 cases.
