Narberth’s Lindsay Gradel, the owner of SewMuchCooler, has grown her successful clothing line during the pandemic from what began as a hobby, writes Tiffany Rivera for the AL DÍA.

Gradel started sewing six years ago, mostly making children’s clothing primarily for girls. When the pandemic started, she added eclectic and fun masks which grabbed the attention of children.

“If we have to wear a mask you want to style it and wear what you want,” she said.

She also found her name in the media at the start of COVID-19 when she donated nearly 1,000 face masks to nurses who work in the Philadelphia area hospitals.

“It was amazing and it completely elevated my business,” she said.

Today, she stocks more than 300 styles and colors of fabric. She uses them to create one-of-a-kind designs for kids’ dresses and outfits. While she sells her creations mainly online, some of her items can also be found in some local brick-and-mortar stores, such as Serendipity in Chestnut Hill and CommonSpace in Ardmore.

“I was making my daughter’s clothes because it was just a hobby of mine, and now I have this company,” she said.
