Skateboard Jimmy Gorecki, a Norristown native, has teamed up with Vans for a limited-edition shoe inspired by Philadelphia’s skate culture, writes Brandon T. Harden for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

In his more than two decades as a skateboard pro, Gorecki has already snagged national sponsorships from Aesthetics Skateboards, Elwood Clothing, Zoo York, and Billionaire Boys Club, among others.

He opened his streetwear brand in 2013, Jimmy Sweatpants, which is regularly worn by LeBron James.

The shoe, part of this latest collaboration, will debut on February 10. It will be exclusively available at Lapstone & Hammer and Nocturnal, Center City retailers.

The shoes – which will be available in black or white – are inspired by LOVE Park, that Gorecki said gave him his identity as he was growing up in Norristown.

“We called the [sneaker] collaboration ‘A Love Story,’ LOVE being the skate park at 15th and JFK, which is the scene that I grew up in and around,” said Gorecki. “We’ve seen so many big skateboarders that came out of that park, but I wanted to tell the story of the kids that have utilized that area.”
