As people are searching for inexpensive home improvements that can help them refresh their homes during the pandemic for either living or selling, Elkins Park-based Down2earth Interior Design is seeing the resurgence of wallpaper as one of the favorite options, writes Michaelle Bond for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Wallpaper “is really having a moment now,” said Amy Cuker, owner and design director at Down2earth.

Especially popular are the peel-and-stick options that are easy to install and switch out.

“That’s a really high-impact way to get some punch and pattern in a space,” said Cuker.

Another popular change in redesigning homes is creating dedicated areas for children where they can attend their online classes and play. This includes redesigning breakfast nooks and repurposing basements.

“A lot of people are trying to reclaim their basement space and make it more livable and useful,” she said.

Cuker has been working on her own home as well, including updating her sunroom to create a vacation-like space that she designed based on family trips to Cancun.

“I figured since we can’t vacation anywhere, let’s bring a little vacation to our house,” she said.
