Mural artist Laura Bray, owner of Mural Dreams, has started a unique outdoor trend in Blue Bell by painting murals on garage doors, writes Megan Frank for PBS39.

After moving to Pennsylvania from Transylvania several years ago, Bray found herself with an overwhelming desire to create.

“I painted my daughter’s bedroom as a rain forest and painted scenes from The Nightmare Before Christmas in my den,” she said. “I look at my artwork as holistic, because it’s a delight for the mind, body, and spirit.”

Soon, a family member asked her to paint a moonlit scene on her garage door.

The result was so good that word soon spread around the neighborhood. Bray then started receiving calls from other Blue Bell residents, such as Cecelia Cable.

“I saw my neighbor’s door and I fell in love with the idea,” said Cable. “It’s something different. I’ve only had positive feedback, it’s been wonderful.”

Each job takes the artist several days to complete and she charges $20 per square foot. However she also works with clients on pricing and payment plans to make her art more accessible.
