Mediplex Property Group has completed the build-out of Mediplex Abington, the first ground-up, Class-A MOB to be developed in this area in several decades, writes Eric Althoff for the HC+O News.

The two-story facility is situated next to Abington Hospital–Jefferson Health, the largest of the hospitals serving the communities of Philadelphia’s north suburbs.

Mediplex Abington will be anchored by Abington Neurological Associates, a greater Philadelphia area staple for more than five decades. According to Dr. David Weisman, director of the ANA Research Center, the MOB will focus on ongoing clinical research into neurological disorders as well as creating new treatments for them.

The 20,000-square-foot MOB is already 100-percent leased.

The facility was designed by Linn Architects of Media, with construction management provided by Axis Construction Management of King of Prussia.

Jeffrey Goldstein, a Mediplex Property Group principal, emphasized the importance of tenant ownership to the success of independent physician practices, especially during a pandemic.

“Offering physicians the opportunity to have equity in the real estate they occupy can mitigate upfront capital expenditures; create long-term wealth; generate additional revenue to offset declining reimbursements; and open avenues to attract and incentivize new hires,” said Goldstein.
