Lochel’s Bakery in Hatboro is putting a sweet spin on the traditional presidential poll by offering election cookies that represent each of the candidates, writes Matt Petrillo for CBS Philly.

“We started our election cookie poll,” said Kathleen Lochel, the Bakery owner.

Customers can show their political preferences by purchasing Trump or Biden butter cookies.

“The decorated cookies are always $4.49,” said Lochel. “They’re iced, an edible image with the candidate’s name with 2020 put on the cookie, and it’s put into the red or blue jimmies.”

Each cookie sold is marked on the board. So far, Trump has a significant lead of around two to one.

This is the third presidential poll the bakery has held and so far it has always gotten it right. But always ensures to be fair.

“We only sell both at the same time,” said Lochel. “We will not sell just one out there. We don’t think it’s fair to either candidate if there’s just one out there. Plus, we don’t want people to think we’re endorsing one candidate.”

And while Trump is currently in the lead, the poll will be on-going through Election Day.
