Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Montgomery County Community College’s 53rd Commencement exercises were rescheduled from May 21 and will now be held Friday, Oct. 2, at 10AM and 2PM.
Commencement will be a drive-in set-up to comply with CDC and state COVID-19 guidelines and will be held rain or shine. However, in the event of severe weather or change in CDC or state guidelines for holding outdoor events, the ceremony may be canceled.
Speakers for the ceremony include Donnell Peake, a Mass Media Studies and Production Major as the Student speaker, MCCC President Dr. Victoria L. Bastecki-Perez, and MCCC Board of Trustees Chairman Frank X. Custer.
The ceremony will be held in the parking lot of MCCC’s Morris Road lot and graduates and their family members will remain in their vehicles.
The large screens positioned around the parking lot will allow attendees to view the main stage from their vehicles as each graduate proceeds to the stage one by one to receive their diploma.
Everyone who attends the ceremonies will be required to follow COVID-19 guidelines and masks must be worn at all times.
Attendees will enter at the Morris Road entrance and turn right to COVID-19 checkpoint for check-in. Park in the Advanced Technology Center Parking lot and proceed to the Morris Road lot for the ceremony.
