Fill A Bagel in Jenkintown Reopens to Customers’ Delight
After having to close amid the pandemic, Fill A Bagel in Jenkintown, a favored community spot for several decades, has reopened its doors to customers’ delight, writes Victoria Ebner for The Ambler Gazette.
Since the store opened 26 years ago, it has received a groundswell of support from the community that helped it thrive. The same happened when co-owners, Vicki and Charlie Ard, opened a second location in Oreland five years ago.
But when the pandemic hit and businesses were forced to close, the couple worried they would not be able to bounce back.
“People are trying to promote small businesses because they know we’re in trouble,” said Vickie. “We’ve never needed help from anybody, we just help everyone else. And now, for the first time ever, we need help.”
Since reopening, the shop has been making safety its main priority, something customers have noticed and are lauding it for.
But for the owners, the most important thing is being able to reconnect with customers who have become their friends.
“When we closed, I had people come and literally cry at our door,” said Vicki. “They need that community.”
