Ripplewood Whiskey & Craft in Ardmore and Keep in Jenkintown were among the Philadelphia area eateries that delighted diners with their fare in 2019, writes Craig LaBan for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Ardmore whiskey bar and restaurant earned three out of four bells. The popular establishment has evolved into a casually stylish space where you can enjoy well-crafted cocktails and one of the best spirit collections available.

However, it is the food that continuously exceeds expectations. Chef and co-owner Biff Gottehrer has put his varied experience in the industry to good use by offering diners some boldly updated comforts such as the region’s best burger and Caesar dressing-filled croutons.

Meanwhile Keep, the Jenkintown BYOB received two bells. It is run by Chef Mike Jenkins and Melody Lauletta, a talented duo with experience at some of the area’s most notable restaurateurs.

Their partnership has resulted in a project that radiates refined upscale ambitions, warm hospitality, and – unusually for the suburbs – adventurous flavors.

Its wide-ranging menu features everything from shrimp pelmeni dumplings to spicy brisket with rye spaetzle.
