Phoenixville resident Jo-Lynne Shane, a popular fashion blogger, turned her hobby into a career a long time ago, writes Lisa Dukart for Main Line Today.

Shane began blogging on fashion early, when it was still “a counterculture community online.”

When brands started to take notice and started to get involved, she had the advantage of an already-existing, wide audience. This helped her transform her hobby into a successful business venture.

The majority of her readers are women whose children are getting older and who are now facing a different fashion landscape after being in the trenches of motherhood or as working moms for a decade or more. What she helps them discover are affordable, day-to-day lifestyles.

So, when offering fashion advice, Shane puts the emphasis on ensuring that all the items fit the wearer’s specific body type.

“Spend some time honing in on your personal style and what really fits your unique body,” she said. “It’s so easy to get caught up in trends, and they change so quickly. Really learning your style and being true to yourself (helps you) weigh the trends and what suits your lifestyle.”
