Montgomery County COVID-19 Saturday Morning Update – April 18th
Based on the information found on state and county’s COVID-19 website and the Commissioner’s Friday afternoon press conference, here is a snapshot of the spread of coronavirus across Montgomery County, the Delaware Valley and Pennsylvania.
As of 10:00 AM Friday morning, Montgomery County reported 111 new COVID-19, down 3 cases from the 114 new cases reported Thursday.
The 111 new cases, 62 of which were females, came from 32 municipalities and range in age from 5 to 99 years-old and fall in the following age brackets:
- 0 to 9 – 3
- 10 to 19 – 1
- 20 to 29 – 3
- 30 to 39 – 8
- 40 to 49 – 10
- 50 to 59 – 18
- 60 to 69 – 17
- 70 to 79 – 21
- 80 to 89 – 23
- 90 to 99 – 7
- 100 to 109 – 0
The 111 new positive cases brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 2,426 countywide.
Of those 2,426 confirmed cases, 1,122 are male, 1,271 are female.
The average age of individuals with COVID-19 across the county is 54.8 years-old with the youngest patient being a 1-month-old baby and a 110 year-old Abington man, the oldest.
Sixtyone of the county’s 62 municipalities are home to at least one individual with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.
Of those 61 municipalities, only one, Bryn Athyn Borough in the county’s southeast corner, reports zero cases of COVID-19.

The County continues to monitor the 75 Department of Health certified long-term care centers and approximately 550 congregant care facilities across Montgomery County for instances of COVID-19.
Of the 930 cases reported at these centers through Friday morning, 607 were residents and the balance, 323 cases, were of staff members of the care facility.
As of Friday, 79 of those facilities have the following number of residents or staff with COVID-19:
- 44 facilities with 1 to 5 cases
- 14 facilities with 6 to 10 cases
- 6 facilities with 11 to 15 cases
- 2 facilities with 16 to 20 cases
- 0 facilities with 21 to 25 cases
- 1 facility with 26 to 30 cases
- 5 facilities with 31 to 35 cases
- 3 facilities with 36 to 40 cases
- 5 facilities with 41 to 45 cases
- 1 facility with 56 to 60 cases
- 1 facility with 71 to 75 cases
Seven new coronavirus related death of individuals ranging in age from 64 to 98 years-old were reported in Montgomery County on Friday.
Friday’s deaths move the county’s COVID-19 death toll to 135.
Ninety nine (67%) of Montgomery County’s 135 COVID-19 deaths were residents or staff of the 600-plus Montgomery County long-term care facilities.
Thirty-percent of Montgomery County’s 128 COVID-19 deaths are in two municipalities; Springfield Township with 30 deaths and Upper Gwynedd Township with 19.
The county’s COVID-19 death toll of 135 is 17.9% of the 756 deaths attributed to the coronavirus statewide.
The County’s 2,426 COVID-19 cases represent 8.2-percent of the 29,441 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases across Pennsylvania.
By comparison, as of noon Friday when the state updated their coronavirus count, with the exception of Philadelphia County, with 8,138 COVID-19 positive cases, neighboring and surrounding counties all have fewer positive coronavirus cases than does Montgomery County:
