Montgomery County COVID-19 Friday Morning Update – April 3rd
Based on the information found on state and county’s COVID-19 website and the Commissioner’s Thursday afternoon 3:00 PM press conference, here is quick snapshot of the spread of coronavirus across Montgomery County, the Delaware Valley and Pennsylvania.
There were 113 new positive Montgomery County COVID-19 cases reported on Thursday. The increase, the highest daily number of new cases reported by the County thus far, was due to an uptick in the number of returned test results reported to the county.
The positive cases are from 35 municipalities, two of which, Bridgeport (1) and Red Hill (1), reported their first cases.
A breakdown of Thursday’s reported new positive cases follows:
- Age Range: 1 month to 94 years-old
- Age Brackets: (4) 0 – 9, (9) 10 – 19, (16) 20 – 29, (22) 30 – 39, (21) 40 – 49, (16) 50 – 59, (12) 60 – 69, (8) 70 – 79, (5) 80 – 89, (1) 90 – 94
- Gender: 62 females, 48 males
- Hospitalized: (6) Yes, (58) Home, (49) Unknown
The 113 new positive cases brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 707 countywide.
Of those 707 confirmed cases countywide, 349 are male, 348 are female.
The average age of individuals with COVID-19 is 47.2 years old with the youngest patient being a 1-month-old baby and a 95 year-old Abington man, the oldest.
Fiftyfive of the county’s 62 municipalities are home to at least one individual with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

Two new coronavirus related death, an 79 year-old Springfield Township man and a 86 year-old Upper Providence man, both with underlying medical conditions, were reported in Montgomery County Thursday, moving the County’s COVID-19 death toll to 12, 13.3-percent of the 90 deaths attributed to the coronavirus statewide.
The County’s total number of reported cases represent 10-percent of the 7,016 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases across Pennsylvania.
Since testing began on March 20th, Montgomery County has tested 2,636 individuals for COVID-19 at its Drive-through Testing Center in Upper Dublin. Of those tested, results from only 55-percent of the tests have been returned to the county. 13-percent of returned tests came back as positive.
By comparison, as of noon Thursday, with the exception of Philadelphia County with 1,852 cases, neighboring and surrounding counties all have fewer positive COVID-19 cases than does Montgomery County:
