After nearly six decades on air, the Lansdale-based radio station WNPV will broadcast its final programming and go off the air on April 30.

After nearly six decades on air, the Lansdale-based radio station WNPV will broadcast its final programming and go off the airwaves on April 30, writes Nick Vadala for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“Our mission has always been to serve the public with top-quality local programming, and we have never been willing to compromise on that promise,” said general manager Phil Hunt.

However, in recent years the radio station that broadcasts on the 98.5 FM and 1440 AM frequencies has found it increasingly difficult to grow its audience base and advertising revenues.

Due to this, it is no longer “sustainable to continue to run the business in a way that delivers the service in a way that our community expects and deserves,” said Hunt.

The station was originally launched in October 1960 and primarily serves Montgomery and Bucks counties.

Among the most notable programming presented by WNPV is the weekday afternoon show Comment Please by Univest.

Hosted by Darryl Berger, this show has been on the air for more than half a century, making it the “longest-running and best radio talk show in the Delaware Valley,” said Hunt.
