Volunteers from Finding Shelter Animal Rescue in King of Prussia have been busy sewing pouches for baby animals affected by the Australian wildfires, writes Dawn Timmeney for Fox 29.

“We figured to put our talents to use,” said Founder Grace Kelly Herbert. “We would make things to help the wildlife rescuers, who are right in the middle of these fires saving these animals.”

The group is one of many worldwide that have been answering the call to action prompted by the devastation caused by the deadly fires.

“It’s devastating, the human toll, the toll on wildlife, all the animals,” said Ben Campanella, one of the volunteers. “It’s unfathomable what’s going on. You wish you could make it stop but you can’t, so you try to find another avenue to do some good.”

The pouches will be delivered by Sherly Gibbs, a wildlife rehab volunteer who is planning to travel to Australia to help out.

“For me, it’s very a personal issue,” she said. “I’ve been to Australia a couple of times and I’ve had the opportunity with volunteering with wildlife over there.”
