Bose Store in King of Prussia To Close Amid Company’s Dramatic Shift to Online Shopping

By

Bose will close all of its 119 retail stores in North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia, including its King of Prussia location.

Bose store in King of Prussia is one of the 119 retail stores the company is planning to close in North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia over the next several months as it shifts its focus to online shopping in selected markets, writes Catherine Carlock for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

However the company still plans to keep open its 130 stores across several Asian markets.

The company did not say how many employees will be affected by the closures. However, it did say the employees will receive outplacement assistance and severance.

Bose opened its first store 27 years ago to give consumers a way to test home entertainment systems based on CDs and DVDs.

“At the time, it was a radical idea, but we focused on what our customers needed, and where they needed it – and we’re doing the same thing now,” said Colette Burke, vice president of global sales for Bose.

She added that it was not an easy decision to make as it “impacts some of our amazing store teams who make us proud every day.”
