Flourtown’s Katie Eagleson, who has been singing professionally for more than three decades, likes performing modern classics that tell a story.

Flourtown’s Katie Eagleson, who has been singing professionally for more than three decades in Greater Philadelphia, prefers performing modern classics sung by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Sarah Vaughn, writes Len Lear for the Chestnut Hill Local.

The lyrics also play an important role in how she chooses which songs to perform.

“I like to sing songs that tell some kind of story or at least reflect that the lyricist was taking his or her job seriously,” said Eagleson.

She is often complimented by fellow musicians and listeners on her great pitch, section, and her ability to swing.

Her voice has also been described as soulful by many.

She regularly performs with her husband, Lenny Pierro, and two local musicians, Madison Rast and Grant MacAvoy. Her debut album “Once Upon A Time” came out twelve years ago.

“Making a record was really a milestone in my life and my career,” she said. “It’s been challenging and exciting to record my interpretations of these songs with such great musicians.”

Eagleson will be performing at Meadowwood in Worcester on November 20 and Jenner’s Pond in West Grove on November 21.
